So, I’ve been AWOL for a almost two months (sorry guys!). Life has been crazy and hectic, and honestly I haven’t made writing a priority. I promise I will try to be better at it, but I need some accountability, so PLEASE nag me if I haven’t posted in a while.
I wanted to give you guys some updates on my life, though I am sure none of it is that interesting. As a side note, if you have anything you’d like me to write about feel free to send me a message, text, tweet, or anything else and I’ll do my best! Without further ado, here we go – LIFE UPDATES!
Life has been incredibly busy in this household. I just got back home from three days in Olympia for work, which is always exhausting for me, since I am naturally introverted and a relative homebody. The trip was fantastic though, so no complaints.
As many of you may know, I work for Benton County government as the Community Programs and Public Relations Coordinator. You may be asking yourself – “what IS that?” or “then, what do you like ACTUALLY do?”. Neither of those questions is unjustified, but that’s a post for another day. But part of my job means going to Olympia with one of our County Commissioners and talking with legislators from our district about our County issues. Work as a whole is great – always changing and keeping me busy, and I promise that I will devote an entire post to explaining what I do, what it’s like, and what a day looks like for me.
In other news in my life, I have recently started (regularly) attending church for the first time in my life. Throughout childhood and college, I attended church occasionally but never felt at home in the community and was always left wanting. However, I’ve recently begun attending EastLake Tri-Cities, a local church that brands itself as “the church for people who don’t typically like church.”
This may be confusing to you, but it’s actually that mantra that drew me to attend in the first place. It has become a place of welcoming, reflection, and is starting to be home for me. I actually just completed my first week of Starting Point, a program that EastLake has that is an 8-week small group for people looking to start at EastLake, learn more about Jesus, the church, and dive deeper into their own faith.
Seriously, guys. This place is phenomenal. If you are looking for a church in Tri-Cities, shoot me a message and join me next week. Since my Starting Point group meets Sunday mornings as well, I’ll be going to the 11 AM talks for the next couple of months, but feel free to come along – I’m always down to have friends join the fun!
EastLake meets in an abandoned movie theater, the Uptown Theatre, which also happens to be the place that Patrick and I will be getting married! It’s an eclectic, crazy, weird venue but I love it for all of its charm (and the dolphin fountain and bear statue are just added bonuses).
Speaking of the wedding, planning is going great! I’ve found a dress, we have the venue, a photographer, and a meeting with a DJ in about a week, so things are progressing nicely! We are so excited for our big day, and grateful for everyone in our lives that support us and our soon-to-be marriage.
With that high note, I’m going to call it a day on this post. More posts about my work are coming, as well as the wedding (if you ever get annoyed of me talking about the wedding, too bad I only get to do this once! Just kidding – honestly you can tell me to shut up whenever I get to bridezilla level). Until next time!
