Trucks and coupes and rat-rods, oh my!

Historic downtown Kennewick, Washington has enough to offer as it is, but throw in a car show and you can expect to draw in crowds. Each year, the Kennewick Classy Chassy Show and Shine draws hundreds of car owners and admirers to the heart of downtown Kennewick each year on the second weekend in May, and in its 16th year 2015 has been no different.

From classics to new rides, the Classy Chassy event has no bias—and the people surely don’t either. The first question that comes to mind when seeing the four-block length of cars is “Where do I start?”

From buyers to sellers, admirers and aficionados, there is one common goal—come show off my car and meet other people that are as into cars as I am. Because that is what the Classy Chassy is really all about—yeah it is about the cars, but it is also about the community that goes along with the cars.

Lining the sidewalks are the people that own the cars in the show, waiting to talk to spectators and fellow showmen as well—about the car, the journey to get it where it is today, and the meaning behind it.

Every year, Classy Chassy begins on Friday night with registration of vehicles, followed by the Show and Shine on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each car in the must be registered by 10 a.m. Saturday morning in order to be judged in the show.

This year, a concert took place on Friday night as well, adding to the festivities and kicking off the event with some blues and brews at the Clover Island Inn.

If you love cars, shopping, good food, and day of fun, then look no further. People of all ages and interests are welcome and there is surely something to make everyone happy. Kennewick Avenue, in the heart of historic downtown, is lined with cafes and lounges, antique shops, art galleries, boutiques, and today: cars.

Every second weekend in May, locals can expect the Classy Chassy to be in town, and with over 200 attendees in 2014, this year is bound to please as well.
